My Studio is built around the Aardvark Direct Pro Q10. This computer interface allows me to record 8 tracks simultaneously. I can mic a standard drum set where each drum - snare, toms, kick, right overhead, left overhead, and hi-hat are all recorded to their own individual tracks allowing for mixing, eq, and effects control after the recording. Running guitars or other instruments through my 12 channel mixer and 4-channel headphone preamp lets the drummer lay drum tracks while jamming with the band. Of course, you can also sacrifice one or more drum mics to allow another instrument to be recorded simultaneously with the drums.
